The Sudan

The Church of England in the Diocese of Salisbury proclaimed Ash Wednesday, 13th February 2002 to be a Day of Action on The Sudan. Hundreds of people in the Counties of Wiltshire and Dorset wrote to their Members of Parliament at The House of Commons, enlisting their support and requesting that their representations be passed on to Ministers in the British Government.

On Wednesday 13th March 2002, The Speaker of the House of Commons granted me a Debate on The Sudan. If you go to my homepage and click on 'Speeches', you will find a link to the House of Commons on-line archive. Go to Wed. 13th March and click on Westminster Hall at 0930 - and you will find my opening speech, other speeches and the response by the Government Minister answering the debate.

In addition, click here to view my speech in the Debate and here to view my correspondence with Ministers and with Christian Aid.
