31 January 2005
Dear Mr. Key, A30 Shaftesbury
Road. Wilton *************
Further to my acknowledgement
letter of the 18th January, 2005, I am now in a position
to provide the information
that ************* has
requested.
The County Council
has a Term Contractor for the supply and maintenance of the County's "Interactive Signs".
The County Council
has an agreed price for this service; however, should we
require implementation of further
signs then these are charged
over and above of the contracted price.
When the Term Contractor
is carrying out routine maintenance on an existing sign and
identifies that replacement
parts are required, then these are charged over and
above of the contracted price.
The contracted
price is for the general maintenance of the signs, which includes:
cleaning, cutting back
foliage, checking the detector and producing an Electrical
Test Certificate
is approximately £100.00,
this includes the energy costs.
The capital cost
of these signs varies depending on the size. The manufacture and erection
of a
speed limit sign,
incorporating flashing amber lamps and a "SLOW DOWN" message will cost approximately £4,500.
The provision of
an electrical connection could double the above price. A solar panel
for the
above sign would be an additional £2,500.
With regard to information
about interactive signs on Southampton Road, I would advise that *************
should address his questions to the Highways Agency as the A36 is
a Trunk Road and as such, is their responsibility. The contact for
the A36 is:-

Phil Hardy-Bishop
