I enclose copies of correspondence I have had with Wiltshire County Council, Salisbury District Council, South West Trains and Network Rail about parking at Salisbury Railway Station.

First, I regret that there appears to be a difference of policy between Salisbury District Council and Wiltshire County Council. In the interests of the wider community, I do hope it will be possible to come to a common view on how to plan and provide for parking at the railway station.

South West Trains informed me that a planning application has been submitted. However, Network Rail say that it is intended that a planning application will be submitted very shortly. Whoever is correct, I do hope that Salisbury District Council, as Planning Authority, will expedite this application in the interests of the residents of Salisbury District.

I would be grateful if you would be so kind as to confirm to me whether or not a planning application has been received. Please can you let me know what steps you will take to ensure that the partners in the Salisbury Transportation Package have a unified approach to this problem.

Finally, please be assured that I stand ready to help – with the Government if necessary.
