Salisbury Transportation Plan

On Wednesday 20th October 2004 you very kindly answered my Parliamentary Question about progress on the Salisbury Transportation Package.

In your answer you mentioned that the Real Time Passenger Transport Information System was undergoing trials and should be fully operational by the end of the year.

Another part of the package which is extremely important is the Car Park Guidance System signage – a very important part of the Salisbury the Salisbury Intelligent Transport System.

I enclose an e-mail I have received from Councillor Dennis Brown, who is the Cabinet Councillor responsible for this project. They have run into difficulty because there appears to be a log jam between the Highways Agency and your department. There has been an impasse since the Salisbury Transport Plan submitted revised plans on 25th August.

My Council is now concerned that if the authorisation for these signs is not received quickly, then the allocated funds which must be spent within this financial year will lapse.

I would be very grateful if you would be so kind as to let me know what is causing the delay in this important section of the overall scheme for Salisbury.
