Skew Bridge, Salisbury

It is hard to convey the frustration and anger of thousands and thousands of people in South Wiltshire at the fiasco of the Skew Bridge roadworks. No one has suffered more than the many hundreds of families living in close proximity to the operation. They have suffered sleep deprivation, noise, light pollution, dust pollution, disruption to their travel patterns and leisure activities and many other inconveniences.

A by-product of the work has been a massive increase in rat-running through the Lower Bemerton and Quidhampton communities. The heavy usage of the road has led to a substantial deterioration of the surface.

Please can you confirm, in detail, what remedial work and other work the Highway Authority intends to undertake on these roads, now that the end is in sight.

Please can you also indicate a timescale when the County Council will be attending to roads in this part of Salisbury?

I am very grateful that you have already expressed your intention of putting in place a plan that has been agreed with the local communities. I would be grateful if you would take this opportunity of repeating the result of those consultations and explaining exactly what will happen – so that I can disseminate this information to my constituents.
