VICTORY FOR TISBURY

Rail service cuts restored - 'Victory for common sense', says MP

Tisbury residents who work in Salisbury and further east were shocked to hear that the two most popular home-bound afternoon trains of the day were to be cut in the biggest timetable shake-up for 40 years.

They complained to Robert Key MP - who argued the case with South West Trains Managing Director Andrew Haines - and won! Now the popular 1650 and 1750 services from Waterloo via Salisbury to Tisbury will stop at Tisbury.

In a letter to Robert Key, Andrew Haines says, 'Whilst this will not meet all aspirations, I do believe it is a significant improvement and very much hope that it will be welcomed by the local community'.

Robert Key has replied, thanking Andrew Haines for listening to local people, many of whose careers and family lives depend on reliable train services to and from Tisbury.
