Dear Mr. Key

I am writing to you as I don't know where to start with this problem!

We live at Southbank in Netherhampton Salisbury and we are getting very concerned about the safety of our road. As you are probably aware there have been a number of accidents here and numerous suicide attempts, unfortunately to many lives have been lost.

If there was a large gap and I was lucky enough to be able to reverse the car in its just a waiting game pulling out to take the children to school, BUT I usually have to back the car out on to busy main road, its dicey enough loading the children into the ear with traffic doing whatever speed they wish as there are no speed limit signs so drivers are legally doing up to 60mph,so although I probably could qualify now for ajob with Michael Schumacher I don't like risking my children's lives.

The other problem being that cars coming round park corner speed up as they clear the bend and over take whatever is in front of them and don't see us backing out, I have had numerous near misses. There are 6 houses here 3 belong to Salisbury district council and the other 3 are privately owned, this includes 10 children, I understand that this has been put in front of someone before but I don't know who, a suggestion was made that as we are surrounded by fields on three sides a road/track could be run around the back of the houses and eliminate 99% of the risk factor we encounter every time we leave the house.

I really am getting desperate with this matter as I feel it is only a matter of time before one of our children is seriously injured or god forbid killed.

I have enclosed a rough map for you to look at it might explain things a bit better. I would welcome you or somebody from the highways department to do a site visit or even come on out and test your reversing skills, I don't mean to make light of it but I really don't know who to try to sort this serious safety issue out. I might just add that when it was suggested to put a track around the back that 6 feet of our gardens could be used so as not to take to much of the farmers land, as we have very large gardens we wouldn't miss the 6 feet, Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely

Mrs Catherine Herve
